Michael Moriaty pictured with his daughter, was transported to Van Diemen's Land in 1844 for rape, at the age of 25. He spent his sentence at a number of locations including Port Cygnet, Oyster Cove, Lymington, Brown's River,Peppermint Bay and port Artur.
