      Description: Captain Lindsay brought the CLARENCE from London in 1829 and fitted her out for whaling. On one voyage all her crew deserted at OTAGO in New Zealand. Lindsay sailed the barque and its cargo of sperm oil back to Hobart with a crew of Maoris. In 1849 Lindsay sailed the PALMIRA to the goldfields of California.
