Description: PRINCE REGENT of 287 tons, built at Portsmouth Naval Dockyard in 1814 for the pleasure of England's King,was magnificently fitted out with inlaid mahogany and elegant pilasters. Later she was presented to an Indian Prince. In 1848 she arrived in Hobart to join the whaling fleet under Captain Gardiner. She changed to trading when whaling crews disappeared to the gold rush but was back whaling under Captain J Chamberlain in the late 1850s. In 1864 she was purchased by Captain Boon.
