Description: The old general store at Redpa, Tasmania, served the people of Redpa and the surrounding districts from 1921. Frank McKinlay built the shop when the big Welcome Swamp drainage project was in progress. The shop was later owned by Sid Ward for many years, the next owner was Owen Crocker and then the last owner ran the store for 21 years until it was sold and purchased for a dwelling in 1987. It was the only shop in the community during the latter years but at one time Redpa had 5 shops, 2 butcheries, 2 general stores, a boarding house, 4 or 5 sawmills, and the railway line passed through the town opposite this general store.
