Click thumbnail for a larger image. | Description: Mill scene with logs in foreground at the Arthur River via Roger River, Tasmania, J S Lee & Sons once one of the biggest sawmilling firms in Tasmania set up a number of spot mills in the Circular Head district. The idea of a spot mill was to roughly trim the the logs on the spot to save on cartage of the waste which could be up to a quarter of the log. One of these spot mills was in the Arthur River area. No matter where Lee's logged the timber it was all transported by train to Leesville.
