Description: The Commercial Bank of Tasmania Limited was the second bank in Smithton. It opened on the 7th June 1918 and was located in this building which was formerly a house in Emmett Street. Photograph shows a weatherboard house with brass plaque on front of house that reads "Commercial Bank of Australia Ltd". The house also has another brass plate near the front door and has a picket fence in front. In 1921 the Commercial Bank of Tasmania Limited merged with the English, Scottish and Australian Bank Limited and by 1928 had moved to the building on the corner of Smith and Emmett Street.
