Description: The cemetery at Balfour, Tasmania. Due to poor sanitation at Balfour during the mining era there was an outbreak of typhoid and 16 reported deaths. One of the medical practitioners Dr H G Wadelton is also buried at Balfour. Since this photograph was taken bushfires have destroyed all but four of the gravestones and they remain in the bush at Balfour.
