      Description: The steamship BRITANNIC, 6257 tons built in 1874. One of the White Star Line's cargo and passenger ships, BRITANNIC was a regular visitor to Hobart to pick up fruit for the UK. She also called in to Hobart in 1901 as a troop ship carrying men and supplies to the Boer War. With a speed of 16 knots she and her sister ship were the first to reduce the voyage between San Francisco and Hong Kong to 7 days.
