Description: A scale model of the 56 foot topsail ketch UTIEKAH III. (on plinth in large acrylic case) Fully plnaded model of the first recorded australian yacht ever to clear for a foreign port. She is a 56 foot gaff topsail ketch of 37.21 tons G.R.T., designed by jack Savage and built at Cygnet by Walter Wilson in 1925 for Ireton Elliot Giles of melbourne. Original sail area was 1683 sq.ft. Model includes all sails (jib, staysail, mainsail, topsail and mizzen with spare mizzen folded and stowed forward of the companionway.); 1 601b scale CQR anchor in the starboard bitts, with chain; 1 working anchor winch; 1 1401b scale Admiralty pattern pick with shackle and warp; 1 spare warp, coiled and stowed; 1 scale Blue Ensign at mizzen mast head. (Being on Lloyd's Register she held the appropriate warrant.); 1 Royal Yacht Club of Victoria Ensign at mast head. The teak in the model is from Utiekah's orginal companionway which was replaced in 1961 (at that time she had sailed more than 100,000 nautical miles). All teak used on the actual vessel came from the Bellerive Fort gun carriages.
