      Date: 1899 -

Description: Brass gimballed kerosene lamp from the SS Toroa. Brass bracket in shape of stylised oriental fish attached to rounded brass ring which holds lamp and cylinder for kerosene. Glass chimney is missing. Bracket is in two parts. Ring in two parts, two screws attach lamp to ring. The Toroa, a steel steamship built in 1899 was wrecked off Settlement Point on April 11, 1916.
