ALFHILD was wrecked near Port Davey in 1907 on her way from Rio de Janeiro to Hobart to load timber for the UK. Six survivors found a boat and managed to sail to Maatsuker Lighthouse and were taken to Hobart. Five others who had survived the wreck were never found despite extensive searches of the region.
