Description: Compared with today's log handling equipment this machine looks almost like a toy, but when it was installed at the Leesville mill near Smithton, Tasmania, in 1951. A caption read: "This unit makes easy work of handling big logs. Its powerful winch can snake in the largest logs from distances up to 100 yds, pick them up by crane, manouver into position with the turntable and transport them to the twin saws - all in about the time it takes you to read this paragraph"
