Description: A baleen from a Pygmy Right whale, found on the east coast of Flinders Island. It consists of a curved piece of thin bone with a fringed edge. Pygmy Right whales feed on krill and plankton and the fringes filter these small sea creatures. The whale would have had a pair of baleens.
