![]() Click thumbnail for a larger image. | Description: The first Redpa Bush Nursing Centre was built in 1923 at Redpa, Tasmania. A replacement centre was built and opened in February 1967. Being a bush nurse was a 24 hour a day seven days a week job. Most of the babies born in the area were born at the centre. But the sister from Redpa could often be called out at night to attend a patient as far away as Temma. Some of the bush nurses who lived at Redpa were; Sisters Black, Tray, Knight, Burnley, Wallace, Iles, Close, Meredith, Findlay and McKenzie.
