George Marshall Shipwreck Items

Description: Set of three items, a corroded brass spoon, a corroded cupboard door latch and a bone knife handle recovered from the dunes where the George Marshall shipwreck survivors camped in Marshall Bay. All items were found by Alan Wheatley. Bone handle is cracked and still has piece of metal blade imbedded in it. The George Marshall was beached on 15th January, 1862 at Marshall Bay, Flinders Island having been holed by hitting a rock off the Kent group the previous day. All crew and passengers were saved and camped in the dunes until rescued.
