This marker buoy was used to mark the spot where the 'Hachinohe Maru' lost an anchor out of Low Head. The anchor was later recovered. From a Japanese woodchip carrier. The 'Hachinoe Maru' dropped anchor, and upon losing the anchor the area was marked with the buoy. When the anchor was later found, the Pilot Station Maritime Museum received the buoy.
