[CALEDONIA's captain was accused of aiding convicts escaping from the Bass Strait Islands.] John Smith was master of the EUCALYPTUS sailing to the Victorian Goldrush and first master of CIRCASSIAN.The CAROLINE and the English brig RESOURCE were both skippered by James Smith.
