Description: Image 1. Monochrome photograph of the grave of Betty King born about 1763 died 7 August 1856. The grave is at the Methodist cemetery at Back River, near New Norfolk, Derwent Valley, Tasmania. The headstone is a cross on top of a square bearing the plaque, Near this spot was laid to rest Betty King the first white woman to set foot in Australia. Betty King (nee Thakery) was transported on the ship, Friendship. The place of the trial was Manchester quarter sessions on 4 May 1786. The crime was the theft of a silk handkerchief the property of Jeremiah Kay.......   Image 2. Colour photograph the Methodist Chapel, Back River Road, Magra. Burial Place of Betty King.
