Description: Alcomie, Tasmania rural scene. Home surrounded by a hedge, with dairy and piggery, sheds and yards. This house was owned by John and Anna (Williams) Kay and in the late 1800s early 1900s the first two rooms were moved to Alcomie from Montagu. The rest of the house was then built around the original rooms. John and Anna Kay were married in 1867. John Kay died in 1900 but his two sons David and George were also farming at Alcomie by then. The house and farm, which in later years supported two families and remained in the Kay family until 1980 when the farm was sold.
