The photograph shows Annick Thomas as Louise fighting David Traynor (the pilot) at the Art on the Beach festival 5th February 2005. This festival was held as part of the campaign to inform and educate the public concerning the proposed logging of the North East Peninsula of Recherche Bay . Louise Girardin was the purser on the ship Recherche. She arrived in Tasmania in 1792, disguised as a man. This photograph depicts her fighting a duel with one of the ship's pilot in defence of her disguise as a male. Her motives and her history are explored in this play written by Poulson, Prosser and Hogg. Copies of the play may be obtained by writing to the secretary of the Southport Community Centre.
