Flensing Hook

      Description: Iron rod with a hook at one end. The other end is hollow and flared and holds the remnants of what was probably once a long wooden handle. Used for flensing (skinning) seals and whales. Found on Passage Island, one of the islands that abounded with seals until 1803.
