Description: This building is situated at No. 24 Lyall Street in Westbury in Tasmania. A large foundation stone with an inscription was laid for the new structure by Mr. A.W.Bendall, M.L.C. and Warden of Westbury on the 15th August 1933. The Public Hall was declared open by the Governor of Tasmania, Sir Ernest Clark at an official function held on the 4th December 1933. The architects were Messrs. H.S. East and Roy Smith of Launceston and the contractor was Mr. Wood of Burnie. The foreman was Mr. A.E.Wright and the plastering work was done by Mr. H. Campton of Launceston. This handsome Art Deco Period building still retains it's original facade and internal fittings. The photograph was taken from the northern direction in September 1997.
