Description: An archival A4 album containing 42 colour photographs, two black & white photographs, various press cuttings and magazine articles about industries started on Flinders Island after 1987 and up to 2001. They include poppy trials, cauliflower seed production, establishment of abattoir - Flinders Island Quality Meats, milk- fed lamb, raising Cape Barren geese, growing vegetables, production of Feral Barbeques, farming of abalone - Furneaux Aquaculture, Latitude 40 woollen products, Flinders Island Fleece knitted garments and Carnsdale Wool Crafts. Most of the industries are/were carried on by farmers keen to diversify from and value add to the existing traditional wool, sheep and cattle industries. However several of these industries have been found to be not viable or have ceased for other reasons. In 2006 Furneaux Aquaculture, milk-fed lamb, Flinders Island Quality Meats, Carnsdale Crafts and Latitude 40 continue to function successfully.
