Description: Jamie is the son of Edward and Jane Edwards. In September 1877 when he was six he and his ten-year old sister Suzanne contracted diphtheria. There was no doctor in Circular Head, Tasmania at the time and the pharmacist Harry G Spicer at Stanley was the only person available to assist. Edward Evans rode the 100 miles from Woolnorth to Stanley at a full gallop for medicine, borrowing fresh horses along the way. Sadley Jamie died a few hours after he returned with the medicine and Suzanne died a few days later. They were both buried on the property at Woolnorth.
