Joshua Fergusson

      Description: Fergusson was a merchant captain who arrived in Van Diemens Land in 1815 and made a number of trading voyages. He became a ship owner and obtained substantial land grants. He died at Tinderbox in 1867 and is credited with naming the bay after finding a tinderbox on the beach in the early 1820s.
